Beaches

The main beach of Moraira is to the right, below the “Castillo de Moraira”. It is the largest and the most visited beach of the community. It is located in the centre of Moraira. The beach is not only awarded with a “Blue Flag” but also received a reward from European Foundation for Environmental Education, a reward which so far only 2 other Spanish beaches have received.Just behind the beach there is a small wetland biotope being fed by underground springs. Here you can watch water birds and fish. The beach “Playa de Ampolla” has a length of about 250 m and an average width of 30 m. It consists of very fine sand and has a monitoring and rescue service. You can reach the beach either by foot or with the car. Sufficient parking space is available and free of charge. In addition there is an access for disabled persons and public transport. It is possible to rent sun beds and sunshades and all types of water sports. There is also a beach cleaning service, catwalk, a beach restaurant, several restrooms and an area for leisure games, for example a volleyball court.

The beach of El Portet is located in a well shielded inlet of Moraira, only in a few walking minutes from the main town. Both El Portet and Moraira have a typical Mediterranean atmosphere as there are almost no high-rise buildings which can be found in other places of the Costa Blanca. El Portet means “little harbour” and it is really a pearl. The beautiful gently sloping sandy beach with crystal clear water is ideal for swimming or diving. This beach is perfect for families with small children; in particular the left side of the beach stands out with shallow water. Along the beach there are several terraces with restaurants where you can enjoy typical local specialities. The approach to El Portet is easy; you follow the coastal road Calpe – Moraira into Moraira. At the second roundabout you take the second road to right (Av. Del Portet) and follow this street almost right to its end. On the right side there is a parking lot free of charge. However, as the number of parking place is limited a short walk may be required.

The beach “Andrago” is also located at the coastal road Moraira – Calpe about 1 Km to the right from the main beach “La Ampolla”. It is a rocky beach which is only suitable for swimmers, divers and snorkelers. There is neither a Baywatch, a rescue service, toilettes nor is there the possibility to rent sun beds or sunshades. In the immediate vicinity you find very nice restaurants from where you have a beautiful view to Moraira and to the bay of El Portet, particularly at night.
